Needfire Ritual
A needfire is a bonfire historically kindled to ward off evil spirits.
You will need:
Samhain ritual candle (from Flidais Apothecary - or a white candle!)
paper & pen
fireproof container
Gather materials. Create a sacred space somewhere quiet, cast your circle, & light the candle. Hear the crackle of the wick & smell the candle start to burn. Call in your ancestors & any spirits you would like to commune with. Start by saying your name (”I am...”) & then ask for guidance or share your intentions.
Write down what you would like to release from this past year & “ward off” in this coming year on a piece of paper. Light the paper with the candle & let it burn in the fireproof container. Follow with an offering (such as candy, apples, water, wine, coins, crystals) & meditate on the flame. Focus on gratitude, thanking your ancestors & sealing in lessons & growth from this year.
When finished, extinguish the candle.
Speak out loud, “AND SO IT IS”
